Sharing the story of Instagram with the Banbury Photography Club

mobile-photography-talk

Over the last two years, we have been busy experimenting with Instagram, pushing the boundaries of mobile photography with the help from a very talented community.

We started off by testing it ourselves and quickly got hooked. We then opened a business account and fell even more for this creative outlet, running competitions, designing the A to Z of Instagram book, and launching our first mobile photography exhibition.

This year we stumbled upon our latest challenge: the Banbury Photography Club asked us to give a two hour talk about Instagram and mobile photography more generally.

Two hours may seem like a long time, but condensing a few of the most creative, enthusiastic, and fun moments from social media we and our community experienced was not going to be an easy task.

That job fell to Kasia, who created a monster of a presentation – sitting at just over 500 slides – showing our story as a business and as individuals. Time was also committed to telling the story of other Instagram users we admire and are inspired by.

Kasia hopes that her meeting with the Banbury Photography Club allowed traditional photographers to understand what mobile photography is and what marks it out as being different. How social networking has the power to inspire, connect people, and give an old hobby a new meaning.

Not even 500 slides were enough to do justice to the entire Instagram story. So, over the next few weeks, we are going to publish a series of posts to tell more in-depth stories of how Instagram has changed people’s lives and opened doors to new possibilities.
