Meet some new mark-makers
It’s been a busy few months here, and as summer turns swiftly into autumn, we’d like to officially welcome some new mark-makers to the fold. Clockwise from top left we’ve gained Junior Designer Tom, Account Manager Anna, Designer Megan, and Artworker Dan. But that doesn’t tell you much…
We know your names, but where did you come from?
Dan – I was at a printing house in Abingdon before.
Tom – I came here straight out of uni, after a decision not to take placements in London, but to work for mm* instead.
Megan – I’ve moved from Instinctiv in Cheltenham.
Anna – I was looking for a new career after a previous life in publishing ad sales and admin.
Why did you choose mm*?
Dan – I wanted more creativity than I was getting in my previous creative artworker role.
Tom – It’s been a long time coming! I got in touch with mm* before I left for Uni and Steve agreed to meet with me to cast an appraising eye over my portfolio. When I finished my course I saw that mm* were hiring, and here I am! There was a blog post on turning from a student into an employee that gave me some hope – it’s always nice to see that employers are willing to help you build up skills from the start.
Megan – I wanted to do more branding work, and the mm* portfolio confirmed that I was in the right place! My previous agency specialised in charity and fundraising work.
Anna – I loved the vibe as soon as I walked in, and the role on offer was interesting and flexible. It’s hard to tell whether I chose mm* or mm* chose me!
What’s your favourite bit so far?
Dan – Image manipulation, a bit more creative playing around in photoshop. It’s much more of what I wanted to be doing, which is great!
Tom – The studio culture – this is my first job in design, and it’s great to be around other designers, learning stuff and seeing how things work, while working on live projects.
Megan – I really enjoy the initial research and concept time right at the beginning, just after you’ve got the brief, where anything’s possible!
Anna – It sounds a bit trite, but I really do like every day! No day is the same as the one before. The company is good (in both senses of the word). We’re not just account managers or copywriters or designers. We’re mark-makers.
So there you have ‘em. They’re all beavering away as you read this, and if you happen to be in the studio, you’ll be able to see them in action for yourself!

We should at this point make a special mention of designer Will, who has been with us for almost a year. He became part of the furniture really quickly (and y’know, Christmas happened), so we didn’t get round to introducing him officially until it was ever-so-slightly too late for it not to be awkward. So we’ve given him a whole closing paragraph here instead. Check out his One Minute Briefs.
