Lent, a time for reflection… and cutting down on biscuits

hi5-2

As many of you will know lent is upon us, which typically involves sacrificing your favourite food or drink. With its origins in religion normally relating to fasting or giving up luxuries, here at mark-making* we are taking a slightly different spin.

We are looking to improve our work habits: to give up or put an end to anything that may distract us in the workspace, or maybe implement a new attitude and way of approaching situations.

Here is just a handful of examples from within mark-making*:

  • Give up moaning, from Steph
  • Stop swearing, from Steve and Nic (perhaps we ought to implement a swear box too and start an Easter egg fund)
  • Keep a tidy desk and recycle, from Peter and Ali
  • High-five one of the design team every day, from Shannon and Rich

Some of the mark-makers were a little more traditional:

  • Get rid of the “it’s too hard” attitude towards exercise, from Emma
  • Give up chocolate and biscuits, from Steve and Chloe

By implementing these small changes we hope to achieve a more productive and enjoyable work environment. And reap the benefits. Even though the environment at mark-making* is one that would be desired by many, there is always room for improvement. These changes are just a few small steps, which could ever so slightly improve our daily activities.

We’d love to hear about your lent promises (let us know in the comments or on social media) and we will keep you updated with our progress. Which of us will be the first to crack?
