The atmosphere was buzzing on the afternoon of Friday 7th April as we drew our runners for the 2017 Grand National. Exclamations of delight at drawing favourites mixed with howls of anguish from those left with rank outsiders.

But it would all come down to one glorious dash the next afternoon: 5:15pm at Aintree.

From our admittedly patchy field, only a handful of mark-makers could possibly make a profit. And here are the ones who did!
